I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. to get Device identity and device property

    When our application published already, some time we need to know user running it on what platform for example what brand, memory size, processor type, etc to get track on device specific issue.

    Also if we have a generic class to access device property will be really helpful to simplify our code. For example Device.ScreenSize, Device.Camera.IsFlashAvailable, Device.IsGPSEnabled etc.

    • Updating Resources Progress Bar

      I have more than once been caught waiting (a long time) for the "Updating Resources" notification to clear. How about a progress bar to show, duh, PROGRESS on this, and enable us to guesstimate how long the whole process is going to take.

      • Use XAML for native iOS and Android UI

        I would like for XAML to be used for native UI in pure Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android projects.

        For example, let me describe an iOS View Controller a la

        <UIView ...>
        <UILabel ...>
        </UIView>

        Then we could use the same XAML/MVVM/Binding and PRIMS style navigation on Forms, iOS and Android.

        One might even envision:
        - To replace some Forms renderers with iOS/Droid XAML user controls
        - To have a common XAML designer for all platforms.

        • Sliverlight migration toolkit

          Create a process and a toolkit to migrate a Silverlight app with RIA services to Xamarin and ASP.NET.

          Anything not available in Xamarin needs to be added so no features from Silverlight is left out.

          Especially important is the very close strongly typed client/server interaction provided by RIA Services.

          • Xamarin.Forms Bindings should support dynamic objects

            Like in WPF's Bindings, it would be great if it was possible to use dynamic runtime objects as Source for a Binding.

            • Allow run configurations that run the same project on multiple devices

              When working on Android there are a huge range of devices available. It would be good to be able to run an app on multiple devices at once to help check the UI for different sizes, rather than having to deploy and run to multiple devices independently. I guess this would be Android only as iOS doesn't support multiple instances of instruments running at the same time.

              It can be done for running on one iOS and one Android, which is great for Forms apps, but it would be nice to run on multiple Android devices at the same time.

              • Implement LongPressGestureRecognizer in Xamarin.Forms

                Implement the LongPressGestureRecogniser in EventTracker for iOS and a gesture handler for Android.

                It is harder for developers to extend this functionality since the event tracker is embedded so deeply into all the UI elements and the access to it is restricted, but it is fairly easy to add to the existing platform.

                • Stop allowing your developers to hack their girlfriends and others accounts! I am sick of ALL the destruction tommy had wreaked in my life

                  Tommy and Julie Shapiro DO NOT have the right to hack and molest my accounts. I have not turned them in only because he is the man i love...but love can withstand only so much!! I am at my wits end of this and since I have gleaned what he plans to do in the event of criminal charges, I have sought out, and found a group willing to help me...but they aren't nice, and I will only use his connections when exhausted completely, I have no other choice.
                  Thank you for your time,
                  Tammy Christina Montgomery

                  • Fix UWP Desktop Support Issues

                    Currently there is little or no support for Mouse interaction, only touch. Given that UWP is supported now and almost no one uses Windows Phone, the primary use case of the UWP support is desktop which 99% of people will be interacting with a mouse. As it stands no Xamarin app works properly with a mouse. (which will also be an issue with MacOS support)

                    1. Buttons can't be styled properly like UWP apps can be so you get the dull buttons of Windows Forms era which is completely out of place.

                    2. Buttons have no mouse over or mouse…

                      • Get essential stuff done rather than starting new things

                        If I look through the Xamarin blog, there's nice things, but I'd trade them any day over functional basics such as FCM integration, dependencies on outdated Google libs, a working CarouselView, Keyboards that don't mess up my layout or the fact that I have to build basic layout controls such as a RoundedBorder control. Please see things through to the end rather than starting new things all the time.

                            • Strongly suggest to change the current activity indicator to circular instead of bar

                              It doesn't make sense when IOS & Android are using the circular activity indicator, when UWP is using progress bar.

                              • View Layout Resources should never take you to the Resource.Layout generated file.

                                A huge pain that was solved in Android Studio since Eclipse was that clicking into a resource such as "R.layout.fragment_myfragment" takes you directly to the layout file, not the generated R.java. In Xamarin it seems that this happens when you tap on a Resource.Layout id. What I suggest is that it should take you directly to that layout file.

                                • Android - Auto import app: (res-auto) namespace when using custom attributes

                                  This idea comes from Android Studio, but when typing in an AXML file in Visual Studio for Mac, the autocompletion box should suggest custom attributes with an "app:" in front of it. Selecting one of these options would auto insert the " xmlns:app="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res-auto" namespace at the root of the layout file. This small improvement would be a great addition to xml editing within Visual Studio.

                                      • Accessibility properties for controls

                                        As described in https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/xamarin-forms/advanced/accessibility/, currently we need to create an effect to customize accessibility properties ourselves.

                                        It is certainly flexible, but it'd be better that Xamarin.Forms provides this kind of properties / classes, like AutomationProperties in Windows, so that developers can easily customize their app to be more user-friendly.

                                        • Add support for creating WPF applications in Xamarin.Forms

                                          Now that you are working on Mac application support in Xamarin.Forms, it would be great to have WPF application support as well. !A single desktop applications framework on any platform!.
