We’d like your suggestions and ideas to help us continuously improve future releases of the Xamarin Platform, so we’ve partnered with UserVoice, a third-party service, to collect your feedback. Please do not send any novel or patentable ideas, copyrighted materials, samples or demos for which you do not want to grant a license to Microsoft.

This site is for feature suggestions; if you need to file a bug, you can visit our Developer Community website to get started.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Add multiplatform Xamarin plugin support for Visual Studio for Mac

This suggestion is migrated to Developer Community. Please use below link to view the current status.
    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/idea/351904/add-multiplatform-xamarin-plugin-support-for-visua.html
Visual Studio for Mac breaks a specific project template for developing multi-platform Xamarin plugins. Code in the repo compiles fine on Windows, but not on a Mac. The same multiplatform Xamarin plugins that work in Windows should work on Mac.

xamarin forms has support for ios, android and windows including windows desktop applications - why not complete the cross platform story and add mac desktop application support to xamarin forms?

  9. Portable class library support

Develop with Xamarin.Android and Xamarin.iOS with Xamarin.Forms or not i make a massive use of portable class library to share code. That sharing should be available to Xamarin.Mac as well.

  11. Xamarin.Mac able to link in Xamarin.Forms PCL delivered via Mac Build Server

If we are creating universal apps we would want a version for the Mac as well. It seems that the Xamarin.mac product was designed to work with an existing Objective-C infrastructure and so there is no concept of cross platform development.

A compromise would be to allow a Xamarin.Forms PCL only to be sent across to the build server and then rebuild the Mac application that would need to be partially developed with Xamarin Studio / Xcode.

Also there is a feature in XAML that allows you to vary presentation per target. So for example one could substitute a different…

  12. Not remove support for .config files

I understand from one of the support Engineers that there is a plan to remove support for .net configuration files from the Mac platform. I would like to strongly protest this idea as config files are a core part of the functionality that most .net applications make use of. To remove this would severely impact the portability of applications between Windows and the Mac. We would have to write additional wrapper classes everywhere to support what should be very simple functionality.

  13. Include Sparkle framework to Xamarin, similar to Growl

Similar to Growl, please include Sparkle as a really good and reliable framework for making automatic updates possible.
    Thanks.

  14. breadcrumb

It'd be awesome to have keyboard shortcuts to open the breadcrumb control, and move to previous/next method.

I have no desire to take my hands off the keyboard; and currently I have to click the breadcrumb, or use the search-all box, which doesn't aid my memory of a given class as the search all box lists members for everything
